Tweet Eats: Miller & Carter
One of my aims this year is to spend more time with my family, I'll be honest it's not going that well so far (my bad) but I'm planning to change that! This week I'm taking a couple of days off work for my niece's birthday so I can see her, my sister and my mum, it's so important to me to be able to spend more time with them and try to ignore work(ish) just for a day or two.
Last weekend I got to spend the day with my mum too after the lovely people at Miller & Carter asked us if we'd like to review their new restaurant in Lowton (near Warrington), which just happens to be in between our house and my mum's, it's like they knew!
Steak is our weakness so we were there with bells on.
We ventured over for lunch time and stopped at Kenyon Hall Farm on the way, it's only about a 3 minute drive from Miller & Carter in Lowton. It's a cute farm shop and cafe, they also have an amazing pick your own area which has different things throughout the year from soft fruit in summer to a pumpkin patch in October, it's fab if you do want to venture outside of Manchester into the countryside! It's about a 20 minute drive from Manchester.
It's really cosy in the restaurant with a roaring fire, warm interiors and plenty of hidden corners so you can have an intimate dinner with a loved one or get a group of friends together and take over a corner. It was snowing while we were there so it was lovely to be in the cosy environment with the fire while watching the snow fall, they even put us on a table near the window for natural light for my photos without me asking first, that is the dream right there.
We kind of got a bit carried away and went for starters even though we knew we were going to gorge ourselves on steak... I opted for the Duck and Cluck wings which were, as you'd imagine, duck and chicken wings slathered in sauce. They were delicious, but messy so be prepared to get stuck in!
My mum went for the Scallops which looks fancy but she did say they were a little bland so I feel like I won in the starter game.
We both went wild and ordered a massive steak each, I went for Ribeye and my mum went for Sirloin (even though I do think we both got Ribeye but never mind!), all of the steaks come with a choice of sauce, a choice of topped lettuce and fries. We also got some greens on the side, because we're obv healthy.
The steaks were good, they were delicious and huge! I kind of wish I could have it again now to be honest. I absolutely loved the lettuce wedge too which I didn't expect to quite so much, I had parmesan on mine and devoured it.
