Life Lately: A Very, Very Tiny Update

It's been a while since my last Life Lately update and quite a lot has happened since then...

We're having a baby!

For the last three months we've been keeping a very, very tiny secret. Well, it's getting less and less tiny by the week, it's currently the size of a lemon! In between Christmas and New Year, Joe and I found out that we were expecting a baby. Thank goodness for Dry January being the perfect excuse for me not to have a glass of wine at any given opportunity like usual!

We had decided it was a good time to start trying in autumn and it all happened rather quickly after that! After me being on the pill for over a decade we thought it would take quite a while but we were very lucky. After the initial fear of every single thing that could possible go wrong every second of the day and now that we've had our 12 week scan, it all feels a bit more real and exciting! We're due on the 30th of August, so expect to see me sporting a lot of moo moos over summer.

Now that we have a good reason to get the house sorted, everything is starting to come together. The living room is pretty much sorted now, we're just adding the finishing touches like our lovely new lamp that I decided to pose with and making sure the artwork we've collected over the months is up on the walls or on the mantlepiece.

We've also booked in to have the kitchen done (FINALLY) so we're working on that at the moment with our designer Daniel Christopher, who was recommended by my friend Holly, you should definitely follow on Instagram for all the home inspo.

Next up is the bathroom, we have someone coming round next week to sort us out with a quote so fingers crossed that goes well. Being a grown up is expensive boring.

Work has been difficult for the past couple of months, feeling rubbish and exhausted 24/7 does not leave you feeling like the best version of yourself. Thankfully I haven't had any morning sickness so I haven't had to cover that up which is an absolute blessing.

We're in the middle of a bit of a restructure at work and I'm in the process of building up my team which is very exciting, there are so many amazing projects to work on in Myprotein at the moment. Exciting times ahead!

Even though this is not my usual kind of photo (I'm not looking down or playing with my hair, shock horror!) I just look too happy not to include it. Fingers and toes crossed that everything goes as smoothly as it can from now on, I feel incredibly lucky that we've made it this far and every week that we count down feels like a little victory. Here's to our little sausage, we can't wait to meet you!

  1. I am so, so happy for you! I too had been on the pill for 10 years before we started trying for Willow and I thought it would take years (I'd read a lot of experiences online all of which suggested we'd have at least a 1 year wait!) but we were so lucky in just 10 weeks... Neither of us expected it so soon! I am so excited for you and Joe, this is the most exciting and crazy journey you'll ever go on!!! xo

  2. Congratulations! Such wonderful news!
