Beauty Empties and New In
Do you know what I miss? Empties posts and videos. I haven't seen one for so long so I thought I'd post about products that I've loved the past couple of months and what I'm adding into my beauty routine for the season ahead.
I'm getting to the point where I'm finding my favourite products and 'me' shades that I will continue to re-buy, I almost feel like a grown up!
Let me talk you through what products I will buy over and over again, what I won't be bothering with and what is new in my beauty routine.
I hadn't tried this before but after adding the MAC Prep and Prime primer to my make up routine after we launched it at work, I think it's one I'll be buying again. It makes my skin look and feel hydrated and helps make sure my foundation stays on all day.
Speaking of foundation, this is a product that I buy over and over again, the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation is hands down the best foundation for my complexion that I've ever used. I wear Ecru at this time of year and over the summer months I mixed a little of this with some of the MAC Prep and Prime to make more of a tinted moisturiser.
Finding 'my scent' is something I'm still trying to do, when I was younger I wore Marc Jacobs Daisy for years and loved it, I'm still trying to find my grown up version of it. The Si Armani perfume has been my go to scent for the past 6 months or so, I have really enjoyed wearing it but I think I'm going to try a couple more before re-purchasing it, it's just a little too sweet for me.
This is another product I re-buy again and again, no other mascara is quite as good as the YSL waterproof mascara for my eyelashes, it gives a great curve without being too caked on, it's a good 'your lashes but better' mascara.
I wear the same eye make up day in day out at work, a nude shimmery base with simple black smokey eye, I've been trying to find the perfect nude base and have loved using the bareMinerals eyeshadow duo in The Magic Touch, I do wish I could just by the mixologist nude shade on its own though as I barely use the bronze shade!
I've been looking for the perfect nude nail polish for years and finally settled on the Nails Inc Nail Kale in Montpelier Walk, it's not too pink and not too dark, it's just right for my skin tone and I'll be buying this forever!
My skin goes through stages and at the moment it's a little bit dry so I've been using more intensive moisturising products including the Mixa moisturiser for Extra Dry Skin, I usually go for the Normal or Dry Skin versions but I'm in need of a little more at the moment! If you haven't tried Mixa before I would thoroughly recommend it for dry or sensitive skin, it is absolutely amazing and affordable, I usually get mine from Superdrug.
Something I will always re-buy is the La Roche Posay Toleraine Ultra Eyes, I have tried so many different eye creams to find one that doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes and this is by far the best one. The annoying thing about it is that it has the product in a little plastic bag inside the bottle which means you can't get the last bit out of it, I need to devise some kind of plan to break it open...
I usually stick to the normal micellar water but after switching to a waterproof mascara, I wanted to try something a bit more heavy duty so went for the Garnier Oil Infused Micellar Water. I didn't love it straight away as I was used to the normal Garnier Micellar water and the consistency is obviously quite different, but after a few days my skin got used to it and it works a treat, waterproof mascara is so much easier to remove with it. I'll definitely be buying this again in the future.
My hair is in definite need of a little TLC after summer, thankfully Space NK came to the rescue! At their event in the Manchester store a couple of weeks ago, there was a Rossano Ferretti Nourishing Regime kit in the goodie bag to celebrate the brand's launch. I tried it out this weekend and hands down my favourite product is the Intenso Hair Mask, my hair felt so nourished after I'd used it and it seems to have got rid of all of my split ends which I am obsessed with. The whole regime together did make my hair feel a little limp, I usually use volumising products to give my hair texture so the smooth and soft feel didn't quite do it for me but as a once a week treatment I think it works a treat.
This is a product I've been wanting to try for a while now, I usually use a John Freida salt spray for adding texture but when I was in Space NK I spotted a travel size version of the Ouai Wave Spray and thought I'd give it a whirl. I am obsessed with the way it works with my hair, it gives my slight waves texture and definition without leaving my hair crispy to the touch. The only thing I don't like about it is the smell, it's not horrible, it's just a bit over powering and kind of takes away from my perfume which isn't ideal. But I'm going to keep using it and may invest in the full size version, we'll see!
I've been using it for about a week and I love it, my skin feels so nourished after using it and it smells incredible! I'm still figuring out my skincare routine around it to make it as effective as possible but I think it's going to be a firm fixture on my dressing table this season.
One thing I can never have enough of is lip balm, I have a couple on my desk, one on my bedside table and a few in my handbag. With the air conditioning at work and the change in weather at the moment, my lips are suffering and are constantly dry. I've been trying out balmkind's Alpine Rose and Lysine lip balm this week and I really like it so far, it's not the most moisturising lip balm in the world but the texture is lovely and the pale pink shade makes your lips look instantly kissable.
