What to Wear to a Summer Wedding

It seems like all of Joe's friends have decided to get married (not to each other I might add) this year, with quite a few of them landing in summer which means multiple 'what do I wear??' breakdowns. Instead of leaving it to the last minute, I've plotted my plan of attack to make sure I'm not sat on a mountain of clothes crying the night before each occasion.

I settled on three tips to keep in mind when prepping your wedding guest outfit, they have worked for me so far and hopefully will help you too.

Know what suits you

If you're heading to a wedding this summer, whether it's in the UK or further afield, the likelihood is it's going to be hot so make sure you're wearing something you feel comfortable in.

My arms, tummy and thighs are the areas I dislike most on my body so I try to choose silhouettes and neck lines that flatter (or just entirely hide) these areas. This summer the bardot neckline is definitely my friend as it breaks up my chunky upper arms and draws attention to one of the slimmest parts of the body, the collar bone.

I got this pink bardot dress from Quiz in late spring with the plan to wear it to one of this summer's weddings, I was having a bit of a body confidence crisis when we took these photos so I layered a high waisted pleated skirt over the top to create a whole new outfit that I felt comfortable in. The jumpsuit version of this dress is dreamy and is now in the sale here.

Choose simple but chic multi-functional accessories

If you have a few weddings or occasions this summer, choose a simple but chic handbag that can be used multiple times. I got this Michael Kors cross body bag* from Tessuti this spring and I've already used it so many times, it has a detachable strap which makes it perfect for using in the day and switching to a clutch bag for the evening.

The nude version of this bag would be ideal for a wedding to, and it's now in the sale with over 40% off, win! Click here to shop.

Master the up-do

The up-do is always welcome at a summer wedding, it keeps your hair off your face and you can make a simple style look rather fabulous with little effort. I've taken to YouTube for tutorials for every wedding we've been to this year so far, have a practice beforehand then when it's the big day, you'll be able to do it super quick.

And voila, those three little tips should hopefully help you when you're planning your summer wedding guest outfit!

If you have any more pointers, we still have quite a few weddings to go this year, so please let me know in the comments below.
