Exploring new places is one of my favourite things to do, whether it's ambling around the British countryside or soaking up a completely different way of life overseas. But, sometimes it's just as fun to explore where you actually live, seeing it through the eyes of a tourist rather than your tired eyes which just want to get home and watch the new series of OITNB.
A few weekends ago we indulged in a staycation in Salford, one Saturday afternoon we packed up the car and drove the few miles down the road to Worsley Park Hotel and Country Club for a little R&R.
I'd been to the hotel before for an event so knew what to expect and it didn't disappoint, it was exactly what we needed after a long week at work! The room was so lovely (and huge too!), the slightly dated furniture added to the countryside feel of the hotel which I loved. We had a huge, comfy bed as well as a relaxing seating area overlooking the golf course. It was the best excuse to laze around all afternoon reading magazines and sipping on the complimentary welcome glass of wine.
We eventually decided to explore the rest of the hotel and took ourselves down to the leisure facilities, not being golf aficionados we opted for the pool, jacuzzi and steam room instead which were all lovely. I'll definitely be trying the spa treatments next time we go too!
That evening we decided to keep it simple with snacks in the bar, which was really secluded and a relaxing environment. We so nearly just ordered room service!
We slept so well that night, not even managing to make it to midnight the bed was that comfy. We woke early and ventured down for breakfast, it was a self serve cooked breakfast with a chef on hand to whip up extras like omelettes. The food was really good, just what we needed to get us ready for the day ahead.
If you're in the area I'd thoroughly recommend taking a look at Worsley Park for a little bit of luxury just outside the city. For further information, visit their site here.
