Soft Grey Shades and Clashing Jewellery

Despite working in fashion, I rarely ever go shopping in real life, the majority of my wardrobe is delivered to work by the DPD driver. But every now and then, I get the urge to head into Manchester city centre and brave the crowds to hunt down pieces that you can't rely on images online to decide on fit. A winter coat is one such piece, especially when you're as many different shapes as I am!

Luckily I spent this weekend with lots of lovely bloggers at the Premier Inn and Propellernet #sleepwellshopwell event where we were treated to dinner, a night in the Premier Inn and a day of shopping armed with a Manchester Arndale voucher, so it was the perfect excuse to invest in a few new pieces! More on the event soon...

I hunted high and low for the perfect winter coat, I had my heart set on a camel or soft grey mid length coat but am very particular about quality and detailing so I'm not the easiest person to please. I went to pretty much every shop from Topshop to Coast to try and find 'the one' but alas, there was nothing... I was ready to give up and head home empty handed when I decided to have a look in BHS, it's not on my usual list of shopping haunts but I thought it was worth a go. As soon as I walked in I spotted a waterfall coat in the exact shade of grey I was looking for, I had to battle a couple of old ladies to get to it, but they know who's boss now. It fits like a glove and is super soft and warm, it ticks all the boxes! Plus, it was 20% off so I ended up only spending £12 on it (thanks to the £40 voucher from the event), an absolute steal!

I also can't visit the city centre without heading to Manchester Craft & Design Centre, I have an unhealthy obsession with buying rings from there so picked up a few extras for my collection from Destreza Designs, a designer I hadn't bought from before and adore this split ring. It's a new addition to my every day jewellery and I love how the brass clashes with my silver pieces.

Thanks to my Mum for taking these photos, I'm spending a lazy Sunday with her in Cheshire for a bit of R&R while Joe is away at ComicCon so naturally I've already eaten my body weight in cake and found a cute house to pose in front of, standard. Time for another slice I reckon...
