Waxed Jackets and Wellies

There are certain items of clothing that are synonymous with festivals, have you ever been to a British festival (whatever the weather) without seeing someone wearing cut off denim shorts and Hunter wellies? The answer is probably no... But, there are ways to wear those classic festival pieces without going for the most obvious option. After heading to Latitude festival for 8 years in a row, I've seen a lot of different styles as well as a lot of different ways to style them up.

Denim Shorts

Opt for a pair that have elements of new season trends to bring them up to date, like these ripped and distressed pair from The Fifth.

Weatherproof Jackets

They may not be 100% water proof but for added warmth, style and shower proof fabric, you can't get much better than a Barbour jacket. At Latitude festival a few weeks ago (our annual festival, 8 years and counting!) pretty much everyone donned a Barbour jacket as the night fell, standard Latitude. You can find some bargains at a Barbour outlet or by scouring eBay - there's also a pretty great selection here, perfect for UK festivals!

Floral Headdresses

I am not usually a fan of floral headdresses at festivals, but if you choose a more exaggerated one than the standard, you will completely steal the show. Crown and Glory have some amazing pieces so if you want to go for something a little different, take a look at their collection. Image via Monday Musings.

Wellies

Wellies are an absolute standard at a festival, whether it's raining or not, people always wear them! Hunter are the festival standard, but instead of the classic green wellies, opt for a shiny black classic pair for timeless style. They will come out season after season, promise. If you don't fancy spending quite so much on a pair of wellies, there are some really cute ones in the Shoetique sale at the moment.

What are your festival essentials? I wish I was back at Latitude right now!
