A couple of weeks ago I ventured into Scotland for only the second time in my life, after Ibis Styles invited me to their hotel on St Andrew's Square in Edinburgh. I love exploring and traveling, especially to places I've never been before so this seemed like the perfect excuse to see a little bit more of the world.
I escaped from work and began the rather epic journey from Cheshire to Edinburgh, but as soon as I stepped off the train I fell in love with the city. The architecture is stunning with something different around every corner and a plethora of dense, stone buildings encasing the bustling streets. I found my way (via a diversion, thanks a lot phone) to Ibis Styles on St Andrew's Square a little late but well in time to join in the festivities, fulled by gin and an incredible amount of food! Just take a look at a small portion of it below, yum.
Design is at the heart of Ibis Styles, there is absolutely no cutting corners with everything from the mattress to the genius USB charger next to the bed is well thought through and have weary travellers in mind. The design of the hotels is tailored to each location so in Edinburgh, there is classic tartan, thistles and highland cows throughout the hotel whereas in Liverpool you get to stay with the Beatles!
The room featured above isn't the one I stayed in, it is one of the penthouse suites which have amazing views, huge balconies and are complete with a living room, they are definitely not what you would expect to find in an affordable hotel! The room I stayed in was small but perfectly formed, with an incredibly comfortable bed, the lovely highland cow on the wall (say hello to him at the top of this post) and en-suite with a huge shower.
I definitely need to head back to Edinburgh and see it properly, explore the restaurants and find the best bars but our whistle stop tour (atop a double decker bus of course!) whet my appetite for the city.
We spent the day playing the #captureibisstyles game where we were given tasks in different destinations around the city (you can see more photos of our trip on my Instagram!) from the castle and the Royal Mile to Holyrood house and Grassmarket to the Scottish Parliament building. With a little pit stop to pick up Edinburgh gin, organic haggis spice chocolate and take photos with Guinevere the owl!
You can play #captureibisstylesto be in with a chance of winning some of the designer furniture used within the hotels using Instagram, visit here for more details.
Ibis Styles are impeccably designed but affordable hotels dotted around they UK, with rooms in Edinburgh starting at just £62 a night, it's a great mid-price hotel for a cheeky weekend away. Find out more and plan your escape here.
Ibis Styles covered the cost of my travel and stay but all opinions, as usual, are completely my own.
