Didsbury: Mud Crab

If you know me in real life you'll know that I'm partial (slight understatement) to a burger and since our first evening in Mud Crab in Didsbury, it became a firm favourite.

We spent a lazy Saturday afternoon in Mud Crab whilst the Manchester rain poured down, bouncing off the orange and grey canopies outside and the sun slowly disappeared leaving a honey coloured glow behind.

Both me and The Man opted for burgers (thought there are other delicious things on the menu from Calzone to Tempura Battered Seabass Fillets), him with his standard Dirty Burger and me deciding on the new Trash Burger to which I added chilli beef brisket and House BBQ sauce. The Trash Burger can be whatever you want it to be, it starts out life as a classic double cheeseburger that you can add as many things as you like to from jalapenos and guacamole to a sugared donut and peanut butter.

As amazing as my Trash Burger was, The Man's Dirty Burger still beats it I think! The Dirty Burger is a double cheeseburger with pulled pork nestled on top and a pile of fries on the side, it's one of the best burgers I've tasted this side of the Atlantic.

Because I am an animal, I also felt the need to get a dessert so went for the homemade oreo cookies and peanut butter milkshake. The oreo cookies were alright, a little too chocolatey and overcooked for me, but the peanut butter milkshake was a-mazing! I could easily have drank a pint of it, I nearly had a panic attack when the waiter took the final sip away before I had a chance to finish it...

We went to Mud Crab in Didsbury but there's also ones in Manchester City Centre, Sheffield and West Bridgford. Click here to check out/drool at the menu. If there's any other burger lovers out there, I thoroughly suggest you head over and get building.

What would you have in your Trash Burger?

  5. For gods sake! This place looks amazing! I have been to Manchester on and off for work. I wonder if I can trade in my complimentary meal from work for this?! Is it sad to eat a pulled pork burger alone?? I wants it. Saved this to my favourites for my next loner trip to Manchester, I am coming for the oreos.
