The Olympics 1908

I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one glued to the TV while the Olympics took over London, from Jessica Ennis winning the gold to Usain Bolt just being plain amazing, I was obsessed.

I found these images of the 1908 Olympics held in London and just had to share them, I love them and want to be part of the high jump, I will have to perfect my pointed toes though...

What was your favourite Olympic moment? Chad Le Clos's Dad perhaps...?

Agyness Dean X Dr Martens

I've always, always been a fan of Dr Martens, ever since I used to plod around the house in my Mum's floral pair when I was about 3 feet tall. I got my very first pair, classic black boots, when I was about 11, I don't think ever felt quite as awesome as I did on that day.

Dr Martens have gone through a lot of changes without actually really changing anything, that's the beauty of them! But they have teamed up with plenty of collaborators ranging from Liberty to Fred Perry.

Tomorrow sees the launch of Agyness Deyn's collection for Dr Martens, including clothing, footwear and accessories. The Manchester store is having a preview party tonight but sadly I don't think I'll be able to go and see the shoes in real life, as I've just had one of my silly wisdom teeth taken out and am feeling a little worse for wear! But there's a little sneak peek for you and me above, the collection includes checked shirts, thigh high Docs, heart shaped satchels, parkas, creepers and more!

Check out the collection and the film on the Dr Martens website.

Here comes the Sun, doodle doodle

The sun has finally got his hat on in the UK! Naturally, because of the months of darkness and rain (may be over exaggerating there...) I am considerably under-prepared for even the slightest glimmer of sunshine. So I thought I'd do a little sunglasses guide in case anyone else was in a pickle.

Round glasses by RayBan.

I love round shaped sunglasses, even though I look like one of The Beatles when I wear them (remember this post?) I somehow can't seem to stop. They have a vintage feel to them and would look great with a red lip and a messy up-do. They're also known as 'teashades' apparently, which I very much enjoy.

Round glasses generally suit most face shapes as they are quite flattering, but I'd recommend them for more oblong shaped faces.
Aviators by Carrera and RayBan.

Usually this style just reminds me of Top Gun, with thin metal frames and teardrop shaped lenses, but if you fancy a bit of a change and can't quite pull of the 80's Tom Cruise look, plastic aviator frames are the way forward. I love the simple, black RayBan frames above, they have a much more subtle aviator style with a gradient lens and almost cat eye shape.

Aviators are for you if you have a defined jawline and a square shaped face.

Wayfarers by RayBan and Serengeti.

The wayfarer style is the classic sunglasses shape originally made by RayBan and introduced in the 1950's. They were made popular by Hollywood bad boys like James Dean, I wouldn't want to argue with him, would you? Now they are the sunglasses of choice for cool kids everywhere, and my Dad...

Wayfarers work best with more delicate features and a diamond shape face.

Hello Sailor!

About 6 years ago, back in the days of AS Levels and discovering fashion blogs, I made friends with the lovely Becky on MySpace of all places, now we're all grown up and Becky has used her amazing drawing skills to make her very own little collection called Hello Sailor!

Inspired by all things burlesque, classic tattoos and nautical but nice influences, Becky has created a range of illustrations across a range of mediums including tote bags, t shirts and ceramics. My personal favourite is the cheeky stockings tote bag below, plus it's a steal at only £8!

Have a gander at Becky's collection and her amazing artwork here, if only her MySpace was still live! If you fancy a laugh, I thoroughly recommend finding your old MySpace, this post inspired me to have a look at mine and it kept me amused for quite some time. There are so many side fringes...

What's In My Bag?

Seeing as I haven't ever done a 'What's In My Bag' post (I know right, what kind of blogger am I?) I thought it was about time I did one. Plus it's a good excuse to show off my lovely new bag!

I'm afraid I'm a rather practical person so I don't have anything particularly exciting in there, just the daily necessities, which are...

1. Standard tiny umbrella, when you live in Manchester you can never, ever trust the weather!
2. Keys with my Great Aunt Olive's 'J'aime la Mer' keyring, one of my prized posessions
3. Hand moisturiser, it's a must!
4. Bright red purse from Monki, only a few euros too, not too shabby
5. Rose tinted Vaseline
6. Mini Charles Worthington Shine hairspray
7. iPhone, standard.
8. Mini backpack (with removable straps) from Swaychic turned into a shoulder bag!
