The Style Standard

I've been choosing a whole new wardrobe in my head recently, it's full of basic and classic pieces mixed in with a few brightly coloured statement loveliness. I've chosen a few of the more classic pieces from The Style Standard, a lovely little website full of perfectly simple and simply perfect clothing, which will almost have to be added to my wardrobe! I'm not sure I can live much longer without the creme shirt in my life...

1. Oversized creme shirt which would work as a dress or a laid back shirt
2. A classic breton top, what would Spring be without one?
3. A brighter version of the Breton top for when you're feeling fun
4. Classic and comfy black skinny jeans

What is your wardrobe craving at the moment?

Black White Denim

A few other bloggers and I joined the hoards of women who attended the Black White Denim S/S 12 Salon Show to sip champagne, talk about shoes and most importantly see what we should be wearing for Summer.

Though the shop is a little out of my price range at the moment (£500 skirts will have to wait until I get promoted massively/win the lottery sadly...) it was such a great space and the concept is one that I live my life by, everything in the store is black, white or denim, with a few splashes of bright colours thrown in there too!

It was also lovely to see and meet the Northern bloggers! It's always a pleasure to see Pearl and Jordan even if he tries to kill you with his mental driving... And it was lovely to meet Sarah from Fashion Dotty who it turns out, lives pretty much next door to me!

I've picked out a few of my favourite pieces below, what do you think?

1. Equipment Silk Starry Shirt £275
2. L'agence Black Leather Flared Skirt £510
3. Cinderela B Bea Bee Silver necklace £27 (this will be added to my jewellery box very shortly...)

Visit Black, White, Denim online here or the store in Wilmslow.

Amici di Peroni

Peroni Nastro Azzuro, the purveyors of premium Italian lager, have taken to travelling the UK to bring together bloggers, fashion designers and general stylish people over dinner, Peroni and fashion chatter.

The first of these dinners took place in Manchester Art Gallery and I was lucky enough to be invited along. Hosted by Gianluca Longo, fashion expert, former Style Director of ES Magazine and all round lovely man, the dinner was full of Manchester's finest (and me...)

The food was amazing and along with discussions on everything from Canal Street to starring in Lynx adverts, the dinners will be continuing across the UK so watch out for one near you!

You can see me and my bright orange Monki skirt on Peroni's tumblr street style, here.

Also, you can ask Gianluca Longo any questions you like whether it's about getting into the fashion industry, about his career or just to have a chat, just drop him an email here

Orange you glad I didn't say banana?

I've stepped out of my usual comfort zone of black everything and embraced the orange! I've got a little bit obsessed with this colour since getting this dress from Zalando a couple of weeks ago, now my nails are the same colour and I'm eyeing up orange cars every time they go past...

What colour are you a little bit obsessed with at the moment?

Backstage at YSL 1985

I love finding old imagery of fashion and couture, it makes me wonder if people will be finding blogger's backstage and show photography in years to come and poring over it the same way I do now.

These images were taken by Gordon Spooner in 1985, what do you think of them? I love the expressions on the model's faces and the dynamic between them and everyone else backstage, it seems a lot less hectic than modern shows. You can create your very own imagery by turning your hobby into a photography career with Guide to Career Education. Go for it!

This weekend I plan to do very little, everything has been so busy recently with work and running around the country for events and meetings, I think it's time to have a weekend of nothing. What are you up to this weekend?

Summer is Coming

gif maker

Summer is definitely just round the corner, despite the fact it'll probably be raining when you read this...So it's high time I started ditching the uber thick black tights and fur trim leather jacket combo and opt for more casual summery options.

I've taken my first step towards summer with shoes! The lovely people at Sperry got in touch and offered to send me a pair of shoes to give a whirl, I opted for these super cute Seersucker Boat Shoes in Coral and pranced around our living room for a bit taking photos of myself in them, I can't imagine what the neighbours in the flats across thought I was doing...

I don't think I'll be venturing out of the house in them any time soon, Manchester isn't really the best place to be to avoid soggy feet after all. Roll on Summer so I can rock the 'I'm on a boat!' look.

The Company Magazine Style Awards!

So it was The Company Magazine Style Awards last night and we all had an amazing time catching up, drinking a few to many Pink Pigeon Rum cocktails, lusting over New Look clothes and generally being the snap happy bloggers that we are!

We all got a little bit papped on the way in (my photo's just above!) and then we were straight into a room jam packed with all my favourite bloggers, you get to see some people every now and then but I don't think I've ever been in a room with so many of us. It was so much fun! I spent most of the night being silly with Fiona from Save Our Shoes and Amy from Wolfwhistle, it was so lovely to see Daniela from Couture & Crumpets, Selina from The Flying Saucer, Carrie from Wish Wish Wish, Lucy from Snippets of Shiny Thoughts and all the rest of the lovely people! It was also great to meet a few bloggers I hadn't met before in 'real life'!

The awards were won by some of my favourites; Five Inch and Up, Wish Wish Wish, Style Bubble, Face Hunter... To see the full list, visit Company here!

The rather amazing dress I'm wearing (and fully not doing it justice with my rather curvy self...) is from Three Floor, if you've never heard of them, what are you doing?? Visit their site immediately, you will almost certainly fall in love. My clutch was very kindly lent to me by Bracher Emden who I blogged about recently, isn't it just beautiful? My jacket is good ol' Topshop, can't go wrong really!

Thanks to Company Magazine for putting on an awesome night, to New Look for letting us play with clothes and to Pink Pigeon for the yummy rum cocktails!

p.s. If you haven't seen the new style Company mag, go and get yourself one, it's the only magazine that has actually kept me entertained the whole way through recently, loving the little blog inspired touches throughout!

The Kooples Sport

I've always admired The Kooples from afar, the collections are always gorgeous and I fell in love with Jazz's Kooples velvet shorts a long time ago... But the adverts have always put me off a little bit, immaculately dressed, overtly trendy, slightly smug couples have never been the way to my heart.

But their most recent Sport collection, amusingly faced by Eric Cantona, is full of simple, classic basics that I want to introduce to my wardrobe. The colour palette adds to the laid back collection, from muted oranges to creamy white. Take the steps to work as a fashion designer for the big brands with these accredited online colleges.
