Bálint Rádóczy

These images remind me of Spirograph drawings all over peoples' faces, this is damn good thing. These were created by Bálint Rádóczy, a photographer from Hungary. I always love photos with light effects, but I've never seen any this dramatic and colourful, I thoroughly enjoy them.

Playing in the snow

A few weeks ago, when the snow was thick on the ground, my friend Henry called me up to see if I fancied playing around in the snow in pretty dresses with his film camera, obviously I do.

Because they are film photos it takes a while to develop so that's why it's taken a while to show them off! I like remembering the snow days though and Henry's photography is well worth taking a look at, have a look at his work here and here.

I'm wearing a dress my lovely friends gave me for my birthday and beautiful shoes from Daniel.

Anyone who knows me will know I like simple, comfy clothes and Pomestaymenyami combines the two with a dash of art.

The brand describes itself as "an artistic label that functions as a performance", which is pretty much exactly what it is. The images are also very simple, with an eerie yet strangely romantic feeling to them. I enjoy.

Drift from the Mean

Ok, I will be honest, I mostly looked at these images because of the animal heads, I pretty much love them.

But now that's out in the open, let's talk about the clothes... I'm not usually one for yellow netting and bright red wool but there's something about this collection that tickles my fancy, namely the plaited jersey, draping and leather...

Apologies if these images make your eyes go funny, but they made my eyes go funny in a good way.

These designs are by Burkhardt/Möllmann, a Berlin based design duo Simon Burkhardt and Tim Möllmann.

I love the camouflaged print against the backdrop, it reminds me of speakers. The structural, voluminous designs look amazing in this fabric and makes me want to see more.

The headpieces are also a little bit brilliant, the folding and nod towards airline staff hats make me happy.

Tine de Ruysser

I've been a fan of Tine de Ruysser's work for a couple of years now, ever since I open a box containing one of her intricately folded, wearable metal origami pieces for a shoot with Fashion156, which you can see here.

I love the detail and craftsmanship that must go into every millimetre of every piece of her work. Origami has always been hugely interesting to me and pieces like the ones above are more than just your generic crane or water lily, they're a little bit amazing.

Magic and Fantasy

Apologies for the shoddiness of this blog of late, I was offered an extension on my portfolio hand in so have been working on that baby for what seems like forever but had a jolly weekend off in Manchester! I shall be back to normal blogging as soon as physically possible and hopefully get some outfit posts on the go finally...

At the moment, my eyes need to see pretty, soothing things so the work of Deanne Cheuk is perfect. She is an Australian born illustrator currently living in NYC and her work is gawjus. Do go and have a closer look at it on her website.

As I said yesterday, I did a little digging into that Cake Mag shoot and found out that one of my favourite shirts in that shoot was by Ricochet, a New Zealand based brand.

I had a gander at the Ricochet website and pretty much fell in love with everything... The clothes have a sophistication about them with a youthful yet vintage look at the same time. They appear comfortable yet stylish, like you could lounge around all day in them then chuck a pair of heels on and go out. Just my kind of thing, minimal effort...

Cake Mag

I recently discovered Cake Mag, who describes itself as the indie, confused and sweet magazine. Kind of sums it up perfectly really.

The photo shoots featured online, though all by different photographers and stylists, they all have a similar sense of awkward beauty and sumptuous colours.

I picked out the above shoot shot by Louise Hatton and styled by Courtney Sanders to show to you lovely people as I love the playful use of accessories, mostly the hair clips which reminded me of being about 11 and trying out different (equally awesome) hairstyles. They are simple, a little odd but still beautiful images.

I also want to steal the wardrobe for this shoot and may have to do some digging to find out about the clothes and accessories featured, expect some blog posts about them in the future!

Have a gander at Cake Mag here.

Julia Galdo

It's been a while since I posted some really beautiful photos (seeing as I've been otherwise distracted with a mountain of uni work!) so I thought it was time to bring this blog back to how it should be.

These beauties are by photographer Julia Galdo, I love pretty much everything about these images, from the composition to the styling to the colour palette. I know I don't ever wear anything black (my friend Kim was shocked yesterday when I was wearing a navy jumper...) but I love bright coloured clothes on other people, especially with the 'pop' styling within a lot of these images.

For more info and images, visit her website.

p.s. After my hand in yesterday I had a little shop with some Christmas money and now have a new coat and wedged desert boots that I have been coveting for so long, yay!
