Yuima Nakaza

Back to the slightly odd, dark designers for a little while. I couldn't not post these images, they're just so striking and alien like.

Designed by Yuima Nakaza, these pieces from her A/W 10 collection instantly remind me of the late Alexander McQueen's work. I'm not sure whether it's the skeletal, alien-esque hair or the designs themself...

This collection was showcased at Paris Fashion Week this year so we'll definitely be seeing more of her work in the future, I can't wait!

To see more of her work and watch videos visit her website.

I'm off on holiday tomorrow (hopefully) so I'm rather excited! Must finish packing...

  1. Very cool, the hair definitely has a McQueen feel to it. I tried to look at as much as I could from Paris fashion week but I missed this collection, I'm curious about how she presented it on the runway. Hopefully you will be able to fly tomorrow!

  3. Do you know what the fabric is? It looks like metal but could be leather or something else. The hair is indeed very McQueen.

  4. "Alien-like" is definitely a suitable adjective. I love pieces like this are designed with wear-ability absolutely nowhere in mind - purely artistic.
And the concept of the "late Alexander McQueen" is still a little devastating. I guess it will take a little more time to get used to...

  15. There's definitely something mc queen-ish to it. But I'm reminded of gareth pugh in a way as well. The alien-like silhoutte.

  18. <3 McQueen. And these photos are eerily fascinating. Somebody tell Lady Gaga to get back on her whacky A-game and put these in her next music video!

  31. I can't even find the adjectives for this one.. dynamically static? statically dynamic? In either case, these are very interesting, they read to me as frozen in motion, it's awesome. I hope you have a lovely trip!!
