Linda Öhrström, Make Up and Madness plus Links a la Mode

I love how many things go into making a beautiful photo. After seeing what goes on on the other side of the lens, I appreciate how many people it takes to create the editorials I flick through in magazines so much more. So, this post is dedicated to Make Up Artist Linda Öhrström rather than the various photographers. Though saying that, you should check out Iain Crawford's photography as he is behind the powder explosion images above which I pretty much love and has a lot more splattery images where they came from...

Linda's make up technique is so creative, sometimes literally throwing make up on the models... I would consider her more of an Artist than a Make Up Artist. The majority of her work uses the eyes as he main focus, framing them in all sorts of vibrant ways, and keeping the rest of the face relatively plain apart from the odd, wonderful green lip.

For more info and to look at lots more of her work, visit her website.

I've also been featured on this weeks' IFB Links a la Mode so hoorah!  Check out the others too, it's a good bunch this week.

  3. Wow, now this is art! I wonder how they managed to flick all that powder...
The colours and paint and powder are all so very inspiring. It kind of makes me realise just how much choice we have when it comes to choosing our make up colours for the day!

  10. Right I am going to start at the end - yes the Outnet sale was a farce. Grrr. I am going to enjoy all the links and article's you have linked to over the weekend. Make-Up ARTIST - A good one is worth their weight in gold. So is every member of your team. They make the difference between an average shot,a good shot and a great shot.
Ian Crawford has a great eye. He is an ex-art director turned photographer. I met him in Miami when I was assisting and he was putting his book together. My favourite shot from your list today is No. 7, it almost feels like it is underwater. Lovely colaboration between Linda, Ian and the rest of the team. Have a great weekend Xxxx

  29. Haha, just read your article. I love how your tweet summed it up! It actually made me laugh out loud.
Anyway, back to this post: I love all of the images in which the powder is being thrown at the models. I like how you can see it all mid throw.
The models all look so elegant as well! I don't know how elegant I would look if I was having a load of powder thrown at me! I reckon I would flinch and make my usual photo face. Not good!
